General Admission & Language Requirements

Review the official linguistic standards, high school certifications criteria, transfer protocols, and mandatory documentation layouts required for registration at the Université Française d’Égypte.

Linguistic Proficiency

Required Language Level

Teaching is in English. All students must prove a minimum level of B1 in English.

Exemptions & Examinations:
• For any international high school certificate and national Language schools, English proficiency exam is not required.
• For Egyptian high school certificate (Thanawiya Amma) from public or experimental schools, or Arab countries certificates you will have to submit a certificate of English Language proficiency with a good academic standing or take our English proficiency exam.
• Students admitted to the Sorbonne Nouvelle’s applied foreign language bachelor’s program must also present a score in French or will take French proficiency exam in the university.

Bilingual Option (Transition Year)

A bilingual option is offered at the first year of the university (transition year) to familiarize students with teaching in English. Students will be offered:

  • First Term: + 50% of their courses in English + 50% of their courses in French
  • Second Term: + 70% of their courses in English + 30% of their courses in French
  • Second Year: 100% of their courses in English

International Students Protocols

  • All certificates will follow the above mentioned requirements.
  • Any other certificates not mentioned above, will be evaluated by the admission team.
  • Mandatory State Portal: All international students must apply to “study in Egypt” platform in order to complete their registration in the university.

Required Documents for Admission

Official transcript.
English proficiency test scores (IELTS or TOFEL) (if required).
French proficiency test scores in case of application to the Bachelor Applied Languages (DELF or Institut Francais d’Égypte proficiency test) (if required).
Proof of 12 years of schooling (for International certificate).
Original birth certificate.
8 passport sized photos.
Copy of the national ID (for Egyptians only).
Copy of the passport (for non-Egyptians only).
استمارة 2 جند و6 جند or Original military service card (bitaka askareya) or evidence of military status (for Egyptian males only).

Admission Requirements

Transfer students must submit the “General Requirements” mentioned above according to their high school certificate, their High School certificate, a transcript and a course description stamped from the current university, and an Enrollment Letter from the current university if needed. Transfer students from outside Egypt must stamp their documents from the Egyptian Embassy.

Supreme Council Compliance

The University accepts students transferred from other accredited universities, provided that they satisfy the rules & regulations set by the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Universities. Transfer students are required to submit an official statement of enrollment & an official transcript from an accredited university. For transfer credit requirements, they should submit to the department of the major concerned a stamped course description or a university catalogue that includes the course description.

Evaluation & Credit Allocation

The number of transfer credits are decided upon by UFE academic committee. Acceptance will be according to grades attained in both the high school certificate and current university and places availability in UFE.

Major Modification Policy

Transfer students who are willing to be enrolled in a major different from their previous one, will be registered as freshman students regardless of the number of credit hours covered in their current university.
